“Legislative Status in the Palestinian Territory: Mechanisms, Consequences and Solutions”

The book provides a full picture of the legislative status in the Palestinian territory. It diagnoses the political background of the internal Palestinian political division, reviews major reconciliation agreements, and provides a political assessment of these agreements.

It examines the legal and practical framework of the legislative process operative in the West Bank and Gaza in 2007-12. Besides identifying consequences on the legislative status in the Palestinian territory, the book looks for potential scenarios and solutions to cope with impacts resulting from dichotomous functions of public authorities. A legal assessment of certain regulations issued forth during the reporting period is further presented in the book. These themes are exhaustively handled by specialized research papers. The book comprises four chapters, each scrutinizing one of the aforementioned subjects.

The book will be a cornerstone in legal remedies and scenarios designed to treat legal predicaments and consequences created by the current legislative status in the Palestinian territory. Foreseeing sound legal frameworks, the book is an effective, constructive and indispensable contribution to the Palestinian reconciliation effort.
