The Institute of Law and Humane Society of Palestine Sign a Memorandum of Understanding
Birzeit - Saturday, 21 March 2015: In the context of mutual cooperation, the Institute of Law (IoL) of Birzeit University and Humane Society of Palestine signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a view to develop the legal context,
promote partnership, and share expertise. Both parties expressed their willingness to improve and consolidate cooperation in areas of common interest. The MoU was signed in the presence of Dr. Jamil Salem, IoL Director, and Mr. Ahmed Safi, CEO and Board Member of the Humane Society of Palestine.
The MoU covers several areas of cooperation and sets up a framework for promoting cooperation in various legal and practical fields. According to the MoU, the IoL and Humane Society of Palestine will share training expertise, consultancies, and legal skills. The MoU is set to develop the legal setting of animal welfare and provide human and institutional capacity building, both academically and professionally. In this context, the IoL will develop legislation on animal protection, compile sensitisation and training manuals, and provide focused research papers and multidisciplinary studies in common legal areas.
Highlighting its significance, both parties stressed that the MoU would be translated into tangible actions with a view to further promote the Palestinian legal setting of animal welfare.
