Enhancing Anti-Corruption Interpersonal Communication and Public Outreach Skills

Birzeit – 10 June 2013: In the context of the Anti-Corruption Capacity Building Assistance in Palestine Project, the Institute of Law (IoL) at Birzeit University hosted a training day on Enhancing Anti-Corruption Interpersonal Communication and Public Outreach Skills. Organised in partnership and

cooperation with the Palestinian Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), High Judicial Council (HJC) and Public Prosecution, the IoL is implementing a long-term training programme designed to promote principles and norms of good governance, transparency, integrity and accountability. The project further consolidates the anti-corruption efforts and builds capacities of anti-corruption actors.


On behalf of the IoL, Advocate Mu’een al Barghouthi launched the training day and stated that this activity “is the inception of a training project that provides theoretical and practical capacity building to target groups.” The project includes three major training components, which target (1) PACC legal, technical and administrative staff, (2) Anti-Corruption Prosecution team and other Public Prosecution officers, and (3) Corruption Crimes Court judges and staff as well as other judges. With a view to achieve desirable goals, Advocate Al Barghouthi commended ongoing cooperation between the IoL, PACC, HJC and Public Prosecution in the course of implementing this training exercise. Advocate Al Barghouthi explained that the current training session “targets PACC administrative staff, Anti-Corruption Prosecution team, and Corruption Crimes Court staff.” A total of 18 participants from these three agencies took part in the training session.


The Anti-Corruption Capacity Building Assistance in Palestine project is implemented over a period of 10 months, from April through December 2013. Tailored to promote accountability and anti-corruption effort in Palestine, the project is part of a joint programme sponsored by the UNDP Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (PAPP) and EUPOL COPPS.
