Woman Charter

Abstract

This project basically aims to promote Palestinian women’s participation in all aspects of social and political life. To match Palestinian women’s role and effective contribution beside men in all fields of work and production, the project also aims to safeguard all rights granted to women under the Basic Law as well as other laws.

In particular, the project aims to achieve the following:

1. Review the constitutional bases regulating Palestinian women’s rights and freedoms.
2. Review effective Palestinian legislation concerning women.
3. Develop a legal system for Palestinian women in light of Palestinian legislation.
4. Review the legal status of Palestinian women in comparison with the provisions of international conventions and declarations regulating women’s rights, including the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.
